The company

Our client is one of the worldwide leaders in the production of extruded aluminium and internationally positioned with production sites in Belgium, Germany and China which are highly specialized and offer a comprehensive range of profiles and rods as well as further fabrication. Their innovative quality has earned the trust of the automotive industry and its direct suppliers. The company also works with the aircraft and railway sector, the general engineering industries and construction.

Its production site in Belgium is in Duffel and focuses on processing high tenacity aluminum materials for the aerospace and defense industry, as well as free-cutting alloys for international customers in the automotive industry.

Approximately 120 employees: +/- 85 blue collar, +/- 35 white collar

The position

  • Act as a HR Business Partner which results in customer satisfaction with both management and employees
  • Analyze, create & lead a clear local HR strategy/ structure/ policies

  • Support the organization with the right staffing, information and HR back up to ensure maximum productivity

  • Ensure the Duffel plant is operating under all legal HR requirements

  • Plan, steer and control all HR related domains

  • Maintain and optimize the HR systems

  • HR Cost management

  • Is based in Bonn (Germany)

  • Frequent travelling to the Belgian plant

Main Responsibilities

  • HR Policies & Procedures

  • Optimize HR workflows: payroll, time attendance, training, administration, ...

  • Ensure compliance with given legal requirements

  • Set up & roll out of HR policies

  • Set up & roll out of HR procedures

  • Set up labor regulations of the group

  • Review, adjustments & improvements of old policies

  • Determine HR standards


  • Recruitment

  • Communication & negotiations with recruitment agencies

  • Internal & external interviews (white collar, blue collar, executives)

  • Internal transfers

  • Job Descriptions

  • Job Classification

  • Welcome on first day


  • Set up annual bonus plans according to CAO

  • Employment agreements

  • Personnel employee matters (e.g. dismissals)

  • Ad hoc issues: e.g. preparation – organization – set up of social elections, tax deduction for R&D, adjustments benefits in kind, approved net cost structure by social security and Belgian tax authorities

HR Administration:

  • Ensure & organize:

    • payroll (external service)

    • time attendance

    • benefit administration

    • contract administration & social documents

    • training administration

    • personnel files (hard copy & digital)

  • reporting to management, union, finance & corporate

  • optimization HR supplier contracts

Training & Development:

  • Set up annual education plan & implementation of training database

  • Communication & negotiation with training suppliers

  • Manage training budget

The ideal candidate


  • University/ master’s degree, preferably in HR

  • Fluent in Dutch, English & German

  • Good communication skills on all levels of the organization. Empathic, assertive as accessible.

The ideal experience

  • HR Generalist, preferably with a background in an international setting and 3-5 years’ experience in a production environment
  • Strong background in both hard as soft HR

  • Knowledge of applicable Belgium legislation for HR

  • Experience in change management

  • Experience in analyzing HR data and setting up a new HR structure, policies, procedures
